Inez Tan, partner at Office Winhov, specializes in the renovation and adaptive reuse of existing buildings, with a focus on the intersection between architecture and the spatial and social contexts of urban environments. Her work spans public buildings and offices in combination with retail and housing. According to Inez, thorough research within a dynamic context is essential to ensure the relevance of the project. She is also a co-editor for the writers’ platform Local Heroes.
Inez studied at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm, and graduated from Delft University of Technology in 2016. She gained international experience at Go Hasegawa & Associates in Tokyo, worked at Bureau van Eig in Rotterdam, and has been with Office Winhov since 2016. In 2023, Inez was a lecturer at the Maastricht Academy of Architecture. In 2022, she received the ARC22 Award for Leiden City Hall, and in 2023, she was named ‘Architect of the Year’ for her work with Office Winhov. Inez has been nominated for the 2024 Abe Bonnema Prize for Young Architects and has won the ARC24 Interior Award for the National Holocaust Museum.
